Mechdyne has provided several solutions for ISU, including North America's first six-sided CAVE™ system, a four-channel FLEX™ system, and a visualization auditorium. All three systems are linked to enable collaboration and data sharing.
ISU's four-channel FLEX system, called the C4, can be quickly reconfigured as a 36' x 10' flat display, an angled theater, or a 12' x 12' walk-in room. The system also features motion tracking and several interaction tools.
ISU's visualization auditorium includes five outbound and three inbound audio/visual fiber-optic connections allow for videoconferencing with multiple remote sites.
The six-channel CAVE system, called the C6, is the cornerstone of the University's Virtual Reality Applications Center (VRAC). The 10' x 10' environment features wireless tracking and communication devices and a three-dimensional audio system. Since it's original installation in 1999, Mechdyne upgraded the C6 by applying the latest generation of stereoscopic projection technology and integration expertise. The result was an environment supporting the display of simulations generated by a cluster-based computing system at the unprecedented resolution of 100 million pixels.
