Installed by Fakespace
Des Moines, Iowa - February 15, 2005: Iowa Hall of Pride visitors will experience the Iowa Hall of Pride and its 26 interactive kiosks, in addition to celebrating Iowa ’s rich bounty of creativity and ingenuity.
The nationally known Weitz Company, in existence for over 150 years, was awarded the job of general contracting. Lead by Senior Project Manager Rick Leppert, the company designed the wall systems, ceilings and mechanical systems.
“It’s a very unique project and we were proud to be a part of this museum,” says Leppert. “The Iowa High School Athletic Association had great foresight to put this together. It’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced before.”
Two of the Hall’s premier showcases include the Spirit of Competition Theater and Iowa Experience Theater, both were created by Screenscape Studios, a West Des Moines based state-of-the-art production company. Founded 18 years ago, Screenscape Studios traveled across the state capturing highlights to incorporate into the videos. The 200-degree Spirit of Competition Theater required 180-screen point of views recreated for the audience’s point of view.
“This project was a true delight from start to finish,” says Michelle Morford, vice president and general manager of Screenscape Studios. “Our team worked with Bernie and Jack to create a good experience for all visitors -- with a limited budget. We are proud to be part of such a fantastic project for Iowa .”
Many other Iowa companies were involved and helped make the Hall one of the state’s major attractions:
Fakespace Systems Inc.
Keep It Memorable Sports
Bennett Studios
Applied Art & Technology
OPN Architects
Brooks Borg Skiles
Capital Resources Group

About the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA)
Organized in 1904, the IHSAA was created to serve Iowa high school athletics with consistent and fair rules and regulations. During its 100-year existence, the IHSAA has come to be considered one of the top five athletic associations in the country. The IHSAA sanctions 10 sports: baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, track & field, swimming, and wrestling. Much of the IHSAA’s success can be attributed to the dedicated directors behind the wheel. Only four executive directors have served in the IHSAA’s 100-year existence. Bernie Saggau was in charge for 37 years, making him the longest running executive director of an athletic association in the country. As of January 1, 2005 , Rick Wulkow is at the helm of the IHSAA as the executive director.
