Electrohome Establishes Visualization Group: Makes Investment In Fakespace, Inc. Kitchener, ON - June 9, 1998 - CNW - Electrohome Limited (TSE:ELL.X, ELL.Y), a leading manufacturer and marketer of large screen video/data/graphics projection systems, today announced the formation of a new Visualization business group and the completion of an equity investment in Fakespace, Inc., of Mountain View, California. The transaction was completed on June 2, 1998. The amount of the equity investment and further details of the agreement were not disclosed. The Visualization group of Electrohome, which will operate and report independently of the long established Projection Systems group, will investigate opportunities and potential partnerships in the area of advanced visualization. The equity investment in Fakespace allows Electrohome to leverage its advanced projection system technology and resources in the development and marketing by Fakespace of virtual model displays, including the VersaBench(TM) and the Immersive WorkBench(TM), and other immersive visualization products. ``Fakespace has consistently demonstrated its ability to translate the technical requirements of its customers into innovative solutions for working with computer-generated, three-dimensional imagery,'' said Dan Wright, Senior Vice President of Electrohome's Visualization Group. ``The company's Workbench-type products, in particular, will be a key element in the expansion of virtual reality and visual simulation applications, and our equity position will allow us to accelerate and be part of this market growth.'' Fakespace, Inc., founded in 1988, is an award-winning supplier of high-quality, spatially immersive display systems and interface technologies for working in virtual environments. The company was one of the pioneers in commercial development of virtual model displays, which use projection technology and stereoscopic eyeware to enable visualization of three-dimensional, computer-generated images ``floating'' above a drafting table size workspace. Customers such as automotive engineers can view and interact with computer simulated models of car engines; medical researchers can better examine molecular structures or anatomical images; and architects can review building designs within a realistic simulation of the intended environment. In addition to virtual model displays, Fakespace offers a family of high-resolution head-coupled displays, virtual interaction devices and related software. ``This investment provides Fakespace with new resources and strengthens our relationship with a company recognized for its technology leadership and commitment to customer satisfaction,'' said Mark Bolas, Chief Executive Officer of Fakespace, Inc. ``We will also have the opportunity to call upon Electrohome's global presence to strengthen our ability to provide exceptional service and support to our growing world-wide customer base.'' Headquartered in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, and founded in 1907, Electrohome Limited supplies solutions in visual communications to customers around the world. The company specializes in large-screen data/graphic projection systems based on CRT, LCD and DLP™ technologies. Its two principal business groups are Projection Systems and Visualization. ### About Mechdyne Corporation Mechdyne Corporation is the world’s largest company dedicated to consulting and development of immersive, networked and collaborative visualization systems.
