Fakespace Systems Introduces New Virtual Model Display Optimized For Field Operations Designed for Military Simulation And Geophysical Visualization Applications, The ImmersaDesk™ H3 Provides Large Viewing Area, Easy Transport, Fast Set-Up Orlando, FL - November 29, 1999 - Fakespace Systems Inc., the world leader in immersive visualization systems, today announced the addition of the ImmersaDesk™ H3, to its family of virtual model displays. Designed for easy transport and fast deployment in the field, the ImmersaDesk H3 (shown at I/ITSEC booth #884) is a fixed horizontal display system, optimized for military command and control simulation and geophysical exploration applications. Fakespace Systems, which was formed earlier this year through the merger of Pyramid Systems and Fakespace Systems Inc., provides the broadest range of immersive display systems for design, engineering, training, simulation and research applications. The H3, shown as a prototype at the Siggraph conference earlier this year, is the newest addition to the company's ImmersaDesk family of drafting table style visualization systems for both individual and collaborative use. "The ImmersaDesk H3 was developed specifically for use in temporary work locations that demand an easily transportable system, or in an organization that might want to quickly move the system between rooms in a facility," said Dan Wright, president and chief executive officer of Fakespace Systems Inc. "This makes it ideal for use by military organizations, which are increasingly incorporating simulation and visualization into operations with applications such as 'virtual sandtable' command and control systems. In industry, oil and gas companies are rapidly adopting 3D visualization for seismic data analysis, and the H3 allows this work to be performed in field offices near exploration regions." The H3 is designed in two modular units, which break down into separate self-contained, wheeled, shipping cases that fit through standard 33-inch doorways. The modules can be assembled in approximately ten minutes to create an operational stereoscopic visualization system. When viewed through shutter glasses, computer-generated models and simulations displayed on or above the H3's 76-inch diagonal, diffusion screen appear to have a real presence in space. The standard ImmersaDesk H3 configuration includes a Christie Digital Systems Marquee Ultra series CRT projector generating 225 ANSI lumens and supporting 1500 X 1200 ANSI resolution. Five pairs of StereoGraphics® CrystalEyes® shutter glasses and a six-degree-of-freedom virtual wand are included. Optional head tracking and PINCH™ gloves for hands-on interactivity enhance the system's immersive effect. Pricing starts at $125,000 for the standard configuration. Like other Fakespace products, the H3 is available on the GSA schedule. ### About Mechdyne Corporation Mechdyne Corporation is the world’s largest company dedicated to consulting and development of immersive, networked and collaborative visualization systems.
