InterSense and Fakespace Team To Show Wireless Tracked Immersive Visualization Solution At Siggraph 2002

Live Demonstration Combines Fakespace's RAVE II™ Solution with InterSense's Wireless IS-900 Tracking

Burlington, Massachusetts - June 20, 2002 - Fakespace Systems, a leader in interactive immersive display systems and InterSense, Inc., a market leader in precision motion tracking technology, have teamed to configure an advanced, immersive visualization solution based on new product designs from InterSense and Fakespace. The system combines Fakespace's RAVE II technology with InterSense's IS-900 wireless tracking system and will be shown July 23 to 25 in San Antonio at SIGGRAPH 2002 - booth # 15111.

"The Fakespace RAVE II builds on the success of the original multi-module design, and introduces several new innovative features that make the RAVE II today's ultimate advanced visualization environment", says Jeff Brum, Marketing Manager at Fakespace Systems. Previewed at Supercomputing 2001, the RAVE II features patent pending technology including a "zero-edge" screen surround (Pixel Pipe™), Digital DLP®-based projectors and exclusive screen frame design that can accommodate both soft or hard screens in a simple re-configurable package.

InterSense specializes in precision, wide area tracking systems for its' visualization partners and offers a unique sensor fusion solution combining inertial tracking with ultrasonic position referencing. "The IS-900 product line was designed specifically to address the needs of precise, interference-free tracking with immersive visualization environments", states Dean Wormell, InterSense's Manager of Strategic Partnerships. "Wireless tracking is the number one feature requested from our current customers and partners," adds Wormell, "and InterSense now satisfies this demand with a simple upgrade path that replaces wires with radio waves". The IS-900 Wireless Modules can be purchased separately for existing systems or as an option for new installations.

The IS-900 is easily configured to adapt to the RAVE II's flexible display options. "We can achieve the same, high precision tracking from a single to a multiple RAVE II display configuration by adding additional acoustic referencing SoniStrips to the IS-900 system", states Wormell. Brum adds, "The re-configurable approach of both the RAVE II and the IS-900 makes this immersive display system an ideal solution for all markets".
