Mechdyne Completes Two State-of-the-Art Visualization Systems for BP MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa - December 17, 2002 - Mechdyne Corporation, of Marshalltown, Iowa, announced today the completion of two state-of-the-art MD Plex™ visualization systems for BP. Located in BP’s Houston and Anchorage offices, these MD Plex™ systems will allow comprehensive visualization of very large, complex data sets, subsequently allowing more effective and efficient communication and collaboration during analysis of their data. MD Plex™ systems are theater-like visualization systems that utilize high-resolution projection technology to project data onto a single large screen comprising three angled panels. Each MD Plex™ system utilizes three LCD projectors edge-matched to deliver a single seamless image or three separate images (one on each screen). The systems’ large display areas enable visualization and collaboration by project teams, leading to faster and more accurate analysis and decision-making. High-brightness LCD projectors make each display fully visible under normal office lighting to accommodate note taking and videoconferencing. Each of BP's new MD Plex™ systems is driven by a multi-headed PC and can accommodate laptop inputs from up to 10 users. Both systems incorporate a wireless user interface and a two-channel audio system. The Anchorage system also includes SGI Onyx2® and SGI Octane® computers and full videoconferencing capabilities. Full teleconferencing capabilities and work session recording capabilities round out the features of the Anchorage system.
