VRCO Announces New Release of vGeo® An Interactive Data Visualization Software System Latest Release Delivers Affordable 3-D Visualization Capabilities to the Desktop Virginia Beach, VA - April 23, 2003 - VRCO, Inc. (VRCO) an internationally recognized leader in advanced data visualization solutions, announces the latest release of its three-dimensional (3D) visual analysis software system: vGeo 2.0 - Virtual Global Explorer and Observatory. Designed for intuitive visualization of large 3D data sets, vGeo 2.0 marks a major upgrade to its powerful software suite. Traditionally, expensive, high performance computers and proprietary software have been required to obtain the benefits of visualization technology. Now, with the release of vGeo 2.0 powerful data fusion and high performance visualization capabilities are available very cost-effectively for commodity PCs running Linux or Windows operating systems. In addition to using standard desktop display monitors, vGeo 2.0 supports single and multi-wall systems including immersive projection systems. Moreover, in contrast to many other visualization packages that target the technician and software developer, the latest release of vGeo is geared toward the scientist, engineer or manager as the end-user. "Our vGeo 2.0 release brings easy to use, advanced visualization capabilities to a wide community of users who could not afford or cost justify the more expensive, proprietary systems required to run such applications," states Dr. Glen Wheless, president and chief executive officer of VRCO. "Although there will always be an audience of users who have high-end visualization requirements, vGeo 2.0 is an affordable solution for the rest of the world. A wide range of industries including geophysical research, environmental assessment, oil and gas exploration and disaster management will immediately achieve a competitive advantage using vGeo 2.0. Whatever the data and wherever its source, if it's 3D in nature, vGeo 2.0 will simplify the data fusion and visualization process for the desktop user." The Power of Data Fusion and Collaboration With today's explosive growth in both scientific and non-scientific data collection, researchers in a host of information-dependent fields such as architecture, bioinformatics, geology, land use management, and military command and control are increasingly challenged by their ability to effectively interpret and visualize complex data sets. With the breakthrough price-performance and availability of vGeo 2.0, researchers now have the ability to interact with a time varying, three-dimensional world constructed from many large data sets, including observations, computer simulations, imagery and model objects, making complex data immediately and intuitively accessible. Furthermore, a growing reliance on cooperative research programs has intensified the need for proficient data sharing. With the powerful data import and fusion capabilities of vGeo 2.0, multiple complex data sets can be visualized and interactively explored simultaneously, bringing together data from a number of research groups. According to Product Manager Dr. John Holdzkom, vGeo 2.0 facilitates better analysis and interpretation by fusing or merging disparate data into a common, coherent view. "The days of researchers looking at their own data sets in isolation are gone," states Holdzkom. "With today's multi-disciplinary, multi-investigator programs, researchers are required to understand how their data compares, contrasts, and complements that of their colleagues. Often the analysis gained from vGeo is distinctly different from the interpretation made from any single data source." Availability VRCO offers vGeo 2.0 for Linux, Windows and IRIX operating systems. Full vGeo functionality is available with either the Immersive or the new, lower cost Desktop option. Multiple seat server licenses are available as well. ### About Mechdyne Corporation Mechdyne Corporation is the world’s largest company dedicated to consulting and development of immersive, networked and collaborative visualization systems.
