VRCO Teams with Visbox Strategic Relationship Delivers Affordable Turnkey Visualization Solutions To Scientific Markets Virginia Beach, VA - September 22, 2003 - VRCO, Inc., a supplier of software toolkits and applications to the interactive 3D (i3D) visualization market, is pleased to announce that it has formed a partnership with Visbox, Inc., a provider of projection-based display systems, in order to provide turnkey visualization solutions at affordable prices. By providing a bundled hardware and software solution along with training and services through a single vendor, this partnership will lower the cost of ownership and ease the integration of an i3D solution into any organization. The VisBox is a rear-projected passive stereo display system with an 8’x6’ viewable area and an 8'x8'x8' footprint. All of the VisBox components are high quality commodity items that minimize service, support, and downtime. VRCO's software and services are integral to the complete solution and will include a variety of products, such as CAVELib, trackd, vGeo, and VRScape, depending upon the customer's needs for data visualization, virtual world explorations, or application development. Moreover, this PC-based solution will allow for inexpensive upgrades as hardware capabilities continue to improve. VRCO will begin targeting customers within the atmospheric, oceanographic, geological, and biomedical sciences. Companies and organizations in these domain areas can immediately see improvements in their usage, understanding, and presentation of large three-dimensional time-varying data sets. The turnkey solution VRCO offers is an affordable yet fully functional i3D display targeted for increasing organizations' data knowledge and data discovery. Cathy Lascara, COO of VRCO says, "Our customers constantly ask us to give them a more affordable system on which to use our software. Many of them can’t afford a large expensive VR display system but also don't want the risk of a ‘home-grown’ display made from a list of parts. Teaming with Visbox is helping us to answer these needs, today. This agreement allows us to offer our customers a complete, professional looking and performing solution at a very attractive price." Albert Khakshour, CEO and President of Visbox echo's Cathy's sentiments, "It's a good arrangement for both parties. VRCO is a leader in i3D software. They have a worldwide presence and recognition for being a world-class company. We feel that teaming with Visbox and offering a professionally built and installed display system is going to help them enhance the value they deliver to their customers." VRCO and Visbox are confident that the teaming of the two companies will make quite an impact in the scientific arena by offering the best software, hardware, and services from a single source. VRCO will be offering the VisBox display bundled with a variety of options including different PC workstation configurations, optional tracking, and combinations of software to meet the unique needs of each targeted community. This turnkey solution is available directly from VRCO and from select VRCO re-sellers.
