Mechdyne at infoComm 2009, June 17-20

Mechdyne demonstrated the new HD ROVR transportable visualization system on the Digital Projection booth as an integral part of launching the new Titan HD 3D active stereo projection series.  Digital projection invited Mechdyne to present the ROVR as an example of how DP’s new projectors are incorporated into advanced visualization applications.  A 3D model of a Harley-Davidson V-Rod motorcycle proved most popular as show attendees instantly recognized this iconic design and could view and interact with the digital prototype in life size.

The HD ROVR is the latest in a successful series of Mechdyne portable displays.  Incredible 3D images appear on the nine foot (3m) wide, 1920 x 1080 resolution screen.  Optional motion tracking can be integrated onto the screen frame, enabling users to move freely in front of the screen to examine virtual models and environments as if they were real.  The ROVR series of visualization systems is designed for rapid set up and easy transport.  The rolling, rear-projection case, screen and light blocking tent can be set up as a large screen display in as little as fifteen minutes.  A high performance workstation is integrated into the projection case, keeping all powered components enclosed and close.

The ROVR is ideal for use at trade shows, shared research environments and applications requiring frequent deployment.

Kurt Hoffmeister, Mechdyne's Vice President of Research and Development, presented a one hour "3D primer" class on the ROVR each day of the show.  Digital Projection pre-registered attendees for the class that included human perception of 3D objects, technology required to enable 3D viewing, display configurations and applicable markets.  We thank Digital Projection for this opportunity on their booth.
