One of Mechdyne's five core values is 'contribution and responsibility to our communities.' Throughout the years we have found a variety of ways to fulfill this particular core value, but there is one area of contribution we are especially fond of: STEM and Project Lead the Way (PLTW).
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and is a federally-mandated initiative that focuses on student interest and achievement in these areas. With a focus on science and engineering, Project Lead The Way is one of four nationally recognized STEM programs, and provides hands-on experiences for students. Additionally, PLTW is the only in-school STEM curricular program that is designed for elementary, middle, and high school students.
Why STEM and PLTW
Mechdyne is a one of the world's leading providers of innovative visual information technologies. We bend technology in ways that transform complex data into insights and ideas. Our team is made up of the best and brightest engineers and technology experts. Supporting programs that not only guide, but encourage students to reach their full potential in these key areas is critical to our success.
Putting it Together
Mechdyne recently contributed $5,000 to PLTW for the renovation of engineering labs for biomedical science classes at Marshalltown High School (MHS) in Mechdyne's home base, Marshalltown, IA. We are also part of the Marshalltown Business Education Alliance as well as the PLTW Partnership Committee at MHS.
Encouraging and supporting students to become the next great generation of engineering and science innovators is important to our communities' economic health, and this vision begins in our hometowns. Support of STEM and PLTW underscores Mechdyne's commitment to our core values. We are grateful to be part of so many communities dedicated to education, development, and growth.
