Collaborate in HTC Vive and large virtual reality systems using content created in the Unity game engine

Marshalltown, Iowa – Mechdyne’s plug-in for the Unity game engine, getReal3D for Unity, now offers several enhancements for advanced collaboration with the newest software update. After developing content in the Unity game engine, organizations can easily translate their creations for collaborative experiences in immersive virtual reality (VR) environments and multiple HTC Vive headsets. Network collaboration between multiple systems allows CAVE-to-CAVE and CAVE-to-HTC Vive collaboration.

“Before this upgrade, getReal3D for Unity didn’t allow for HTC Vive collaboration,” says Mechdyne’s Chris Scharver, technical manager for visualization technologies. “This upgrade allows users to integrate Unity content into the HTC Vive, allowing for a much more collaborative experience.”

Additional updates include:

  • Support for automatic synchronization with newer Unity versions, up to 2017.3
  • Automatic settings during project build
  • Optimizations to enhance the user experience

Mechdyne’s getReal3D for Unity is a plug-in that makes the Unity game engine compatible with virtual reality technology for more realistic training and simulation scenarios. getReal3D adds support for 3D stereo, tracking systems, cluster support, and synchronization.
