The University of Birmingham's Digital Humanities Hub is home to two touch tables and five vertical touch screens, which display archival materials such as artifacts, maps, documents, and photos that would not be accessible to the public in their physical form.

The university also partners with cultural institutions to bring this technology, and a new way of learning, to museums.

This technology allows large groups of people to look at information at the same time to discuss and collaborate. People of all ages intuitively use this technology and work together to learn more about the content on the screens.

"Your interactions are successful when the user doesn't even realize that they're having to learn a new interface," remarks Dr. Richard Clay, co-director of the Digital Humanities Hub.
