Mechdyne Corporation, an advanced visualization powerhouse and pioneer in immersive display systems, is now demonstrating its new MultiView Immersive Solutions, the first large-scale virtual reality (VR) environments to provide multiple viewers with their own, accurate head-tracked perspective for better collaboration and improved decision making.
Based on next-generation projector technology from Digital Projection (DP), now as many as six people can more naturally share highly realistic, interactive VR simulations, wearing lightweight 3D glasses. Visitors to InfoComm can participate in a demonstration of this multiple-user VR experience, designed by Mechdyne, this week at the Digital Projection booth #1642.
Mechdyne provides MultiView Immersive Solutions in CAVE, FLEX, PowerWall, and customized configurations bringing even greater value to these VR environments. MultiView immersive environments provide transformational awareness for organizations that need to optimize designs, unlock insights, speed products to market, and inform decision-makers. With multiple viewer capabilities, they can vastly improve collaboration and workflow.
For existing immersive environment users who have already proven the value of a large-scale VR system, MultiView provides a natural upgrade path. In addition to accommodating multiple viewers, the projector’s 4K resolution displays greater detail which may enable new use cases. The high brightness projection allows for higher ambient room lighting, which is useful for discussion and comfortable work sessions.
The projector at the core of these new solutions, the Digital Projection INSIGHT 4K HFR 360 generates images three times faster than most VR projectors. One projector can display three different stereoscopic views of the same 3D data simultaneously, one for each of three viewers wearing active shutter glasses. By adding a second projector and glasses that include light polarization, a MultiView System can accommodate up to six users in the same immersive environment, each with a customized viewpoint relative to their motion and position.
While head-mounted displays (HMDs) can be configured to allow multiple users to work together in an immersive environment, each participant only sees the others as avatars. Projected VR systems, such as CAVES and PowerWalls from Mechdyne, allow users to directly see one another and interact very naturally. As a result, users in large scale VR environments feel more comfortable and can collaborate for extended periods compared to users wearing HMDs. “Mechdyne is here to help organizations get the most value from their 3D data and complex simulations,” said Chad Kickbush, General Manager of Mechdyne’s Integration Business Unit. “We help our customers by designing and delivering all elements of a turn-key solution, including developing content, converting models into stereoscopic applications, and working with architects and interior designers on space planning for an immersive system. Our goal is to make sure our clients realize a return on investment with discoveries and experiences that were not previously possible. MultiView is advancing this capability with unprecedented next-generation technology.”
Following InfoComm, Mechdyne is scheduling private demonstrations at its Marshalltown headquarters and will be setting up additional dates for future showings. For more information about MultiView projection contact Mechdyne at 631-754-4649 or at info@mechdyne.com
